Calais Frethun
- Trains arriving at Calais Frethun from Paris, Gare du Nord can split and terminate at either Arras or Dunkirk rather than going to Calais Frethun. This means one half of the train will travel to Calais Frethun and the other half to an entirely different city like Arras or Dunkirk. Announcements are not in English so be mindful when boarding the train to Calais Frethun. Check the carriage you’re on is going to Calais Frethun.
- Calais Frethun is not in the center of Calais. It is a quiet, small, modern station with a security guard. There are no restaurants in the station. There is a Boulanger/Patisserie nearby within walking distance. They sell sandwiches, bread, etc. They allow dogs though do not like it if you stay inside with your dog. It is best to do a takeaway sandwich. To find them, walk out the side of the train station by the platforms and to the end of the parking lot. There you’ll see the sign for Cafe de la Gare. Follow it to the right. At the end of the road, turn left past the bus stop and it will be on your left about 3 to 4 minutes.
- Cafe de la Gare is at the end of the parking lot on the right. They are pet friendly and you can sit down inside with your pet. Their sign says they are closed on Mondays.
