Le Pet Express puts your pet’s safety at the heart of what we do. Never will our staff ask you to take your cat out of its carrier bag. Passengers may ask the driver if they can unzip their cat’s bag once they are safely back in their cages after pet reception and the vehicle doors closed. This allows your cat to remain in our cages and stretch its legs during the journey.
Please be advised Eurotunnel Pet Reception in France scan pets outside in the parking lot during the summer/high seasons. Some have asked pet owners to unzip their cat’s bag in their open parking lot! Never do this. As the owner, you are allowed to say ‘No’. Le Pet Express will never allow your cat out of its bag and we advise you to keep it in its bag. We advise Eurotunnel Pet Reception France and the owner to scan the cat through the bag. Unfortunately, in July when I was driving, twice I noted non-Le Pet Express customer’s whose cats had gotten out and were under a buiding at the Eurotunnel Pet Reception. Please keep your cat safe. Just say ‘No thank you’ to anyone who asks to unzip your cat’s carrier bag. You are witihin your full right and Le Pet Express supports you.
Animals are never to be left in our vehicle unattended. Some at Eurotunnel Pet Reception in France are asking customers to scan their pet outside their vehicle, put the animal back in the vehicle, then come inside to process paperwork. This violates every animal safety guidance during the hot summer days. At Pet Reception France, animals may be scanned outside our vehicle. You may then proceed inside to Pet reception with your pet (dog, cat, etc.) and finish having their paperwork processed.
DEFRA, the SPA, the RSPCA and every other animal welfare charity are clear leaving an animal in a vehicle unattended during the summer is not safe and inhumane. Le Pet Express will never ask you to do this either!
