Effective 22 April 2026, new EU pet passport rules came into effect. Le Pet Express has been in touch with the Eurotunnel on their interpretation of the new guidance: Notice on Travelling Between the EU and United Kingdom After the End of the Transition Period https://food.ec.europa.eu/animals/live-animal-movements/dogs-cats-and-ferrets/bringing-pet-eu-non-eu-country_en.
For current passport holders, regardless of residency, the Eurotunnel will continue to honor EU pet passports in both directions of travel.
If the Eurotunnel’s interpretation of the guidance changes, we will update our customers accordingly.
Le Pet Express will follow the Eurotunnel’s interpretation of the guidance.
Additionally, Animal health certificates issued in the UK by an official vet are now valid for 6 months rather than 4 months from date of issuance. Please see Part II, Article 18 of EU 2026/131 supplementing 2016/429 at https://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/reg_del/2026/131/oj#prt_II.cpt_2
